Atchoo! Gesundheit! Bird Flu!

Join in the latest craze!

Everybody in my dark, crowded and wet-dog-smelling office has sneezed today. We've given up on saying "Gesundheit." Now, it's "Bird Flu!"

Of course, I'm still in favor of responding "Good one!" after an especially blast-o-rific sneeze.

Try the new "blessing" at home, at work and, especially with strangers in public!

The fun starts now!

I've always liked pointing and saying in a frightened, accusatory voice, "Unclean!"

I gather that many of the bald eagles you see perched on the cannery roofs about town are actually slowly dying from bird flu. Why else would they just be sitting there? Can't they catch some fish on their own?

I watched some great circling, swooping and nabbing action the other day. About a dozen eagles were grabbing cannery flotsam (or is it jetsam?) down in the channel. Didn't have a long enough lens with me to get great shots, but it was fun behavior to watch.

I keep looking for the orcas, which should be showing up any day....

We should probably eradicate them all before any more people get sick.

Liked that you picked 'little miss sunshine' for an oscar in your poll (I'm not too up on Hollywood - hence i did not vote). I watched the movie under duress from my wife but I ended up really liking it.

Then I discovered (after a random, late night google search) that my best friend from grade school actually wrote the thing. My wife thought I was kidding. Funny thing is that his twin is a proust scholar living and teaching in Turkey (not gay though). I remember that whenever they came to play at our house their parents drove up in a red and white VW van!

Weird - eh? I had not thought about them in years until that random google search - good movie too. Would've been tough if he had written 'waterworld' or something.

Patrick,

That is so cool! When that guy said he was a Proust scholar, I thought it was absolutely the most off the wall occupation imaginable.

Gotta love those VW buses. I had a 74 Westphalia that I dearly loved and miss to this day.
