The Kodiak Island Borough assembly meeting tonight was pretty lively, what with the veto override dominating the agenda. Overturning Jerome Selby's veto got four of seven votes -- that's still a majority, but not the five needed for something like this. Confusing, I know.
I'd say 10 or more people spoke up or called in to the meeting to give the assembly a piece of their mind on the topic. More thought the bills for Reed Oswalt, Tom Abell and Louise Stutes should be paid, but there were a couple who were totally against it.
Pretty much all of them were upset the thing hasn't been put to rest yet. And I don't expect it will be any time soon, because unless the "dissenters" on the assembly can get their attorney to petition the court for costs, there's going to be another lawsuit, this one by the three versus the borough. Yeah, that'll be fun.
Speaking of fun: The Assemblyman Reed Oswalt Buzzword Bingo Shots Game scores have been tallied:

The mayor was right on in his veto. Kudos to him. He was right on every point. Tom Abell was trying to extort the assembly in paying for getting ripped off on his legal bills that he ultimately didn't need. They should pay their own bills. If you read the mirror article closely I can't disagree with anything the mayor said. I even emailed him thanking him for having the steel clackers to make this decision. If they sue us, so what? Abell and Oswalt are up for reelection this year. Hopefully the citizens will see them for who they are and not put them back this year.
Ish and Griff should run on a dream team ticket.
