If I had a dime every time ...

Seems my Photoshopped picture of Sarah Palin on the cover of Vogue magazine is the number one hit on Google Image Search, and it seems a lot of folks want to get a closer look. I even was tipped off that a couple news sites and blogs thought it was real (for varying lengths of time). Needless to say 583,815 visits is more than five times the hits it's taken me almost two years to amass. I figured once the Palin Fever dies down, certainly by November 5th, the hits will return to a more normal 500 a day.

Dear Kool Kodiak Dude,

I had to borrow your "cover", but I gave you credit and will add you to my blog roll. I wrote about your Sarah Git Your gun today, and here is the link:

And the very first peron to rip you off without crediting you was - Sheila Toomey.

Good job and it has gotten you a few new continuous readers as well.

Yeah, but you stood up for me and straightened her out, Phil! Thanks!

Looks like you got a Sarah Vogue spike yesterday, too.

Keep up the great running commentary, you and your contributor(s).

Cheers,

Ish

Ah yes, we've always known you are the man. I could tell your hit count must be crazy because the overflow was trickling from your blog to mine.

The CharlotteObserver.com ran your photoshopped cover in their Saturday paper as part of her timeline of successes. I sent them a correction, so I hope at least their editor will be on your site today.

The crazy thing is that your site is RIGHT ON THE COVER! Man where has journalism gone??

Are those UNIQUE visits? Because I noticed, that when you try to click the "Back" button off the vogue page image, there's a redirect that keeps spitting you back to the "...http://1.bp.blogspot.com/..." image URL, making it nearly impossible to leave the page, without closing the browser, altogether, no doubt accounting for good deal of page visit over-counts. Unless, of course, you are already taking that into account and only counting unique visits. Judging by your stats screenshot, looks like not.

Kurt,

Huh. Couldn't tell ya. I've got a free little counter thing and all I know is what it tells me.

It's something to think about, and I'll look into it.

cheers

Dude, your pic made it to a Danish tabloid newspaper. No credit - they think it's real! :D
